Public schools in Arizona provide free education to children from 5 to 18 years of age. Schools typically open in late August and close in early June. Children must be 5 years old by September 1st to be admitted to kindergarten. To register your child(ren), you will need a birth certificate or passport, proof of residence and a record of immunizations.

Charter schools are public schools established by contract with a district Governing Board, the State Board of Education or the State Board for Charter Schools to provide learning that will improve pupil achievement. Charter schools provide additional academic choices for parents and pupils.
